A haunting sail to the Wye River

I have to admit, this is my favorite time of year!  I love the weather, the sailing, and the decor!  We always decorate in a way that doesn't interfere with sailing and the spiders have been my favorite for years!  Sadly, they are on their last legs and this will be there last season, but I'm going to enjoy them while I can!  We sailed over to the Wye River today for a very peaceful weekend escape. I always love coming here as there are plenty of places to drop the hook and birds to watch.  The weekends are always too short!

Boat show fun

Well, closed out another GREAT boat show weekend!  We knocked a few key items off the wish list including a spare anchor, a composting toilet, a new B&G navigation system, and paddle boards for the whole family.  We got a few other fun things, too!

No Flo!

We were spared any real impacts from Hurricane Florence.  We took advantage of having all the canvas down to wax around the dodger area and run all the new lines we picked up over the summer, not it wasn't a waste!

Going with the Flo

Here in the Chesapeake Bay we are also tracking the forecasts for Florence.  Even our own kid has asked, "What are we going to do?"  Well, there is a full range of options from hauling the boat out and running inland to leaving everything as-is and dealing with a rainy, windy couple of days.  This weekend has been a 20+ knot rainy mess!  At a minimum we will likely take down our dodger and bimini.  Why?  They are brand new and VERY expensive!  For now, that's all I'm going to say.  We will watch the next few model runs and have a better idea of our plans by Tuesday.

Birthday Escape

We're not super big on celebrating b-days, but we had a bunch of family fun today!  We started it off with an Escape Room, then enjoyed a sushi lunch and ice cream in town before heading back to the boat for hours of swimming and relaxing.

Boat watching, dinner aboard (great guac by the girl!), and a sunset dinghy cruise rounded out the day.  That's my kind of b-day!
