We welcomed the best man from our wedding and his wife to the boat for some exercising of the liver, sailing, and the marina's fall bonfire. It was all great! We had a great day of sailing on the bay Saturday and then a relaxing night at the beach bonfire.
Today we said goodbye to them and welcomed our daughter's bestie and her mom aboard for their first time on a boat! And we had another lovely cruise!
The day wrapped with shopping, playing outside, and wings & football. Definitely an awesome weekend!

Family = Awesome
Work has been a bit tough for me lately, but once again I was lifted by my family. Tonight, in the midst of my emotional (yes, crying) rant to Frank, my little boy of only 4 years paused his video game, came over to me and gave me a big hug. Awesome. And yes, that made me cry even more. I am so lucky. That was followed by an all-in hug-sandwich from all 3 of my loves. They like me and are proud of me and damn it, that's all that matters! :)

To Cambridge
The Captain had a great plan for the weekend! We headed to Cambridge in some serious (15-20kt) winds and ended up smack in the middle of a huge race to Oxford! We made great time and made an attempt at the city wall, but quickly realized the only spot available was right where we'd run aground the last time we were there. The crew of "Echo" even verified with a handheld fatho from their dinghy for us--6ft. Time to anchor!
Cambridge's End of Summer Fest was full of great food and decent music, and the weather was just perfect! All in all, it was a fun visit and a very peaceful night on the hook.
We met light airs this morning, but managed to sail for a little bit. Katreina even drove some more! She's really getting into it.
Boo, time to go back to work.

Shelter in Annapolis
Frank did some great sailing in somewhat shifty winds to get us to Annapolis in 3 hrs and 15 mins--pretty sweet considering we gybed our way up the bay! We made it with a few hours to spare before the weather was due to go south so we picked up a mooring (thankfully there were plenty available!) and headed into town for lunch, shopping, playing, and ice cream. I took a quick dip in the water when we got back and then we sat and watched the front roll in. It was pretty intense for about 15 minutes--lots of rain and gusts that hit 36kts. We spent the rainy evening inside, watching movies and playing cards. Now it is a beautiful night! Looking forward to a nice sail home tomorrow.
Party time!
Hosted my first party at the marina last night! Some coworkers joined us on the beach for a hail and farewell (a Navy thing). We snacked, walked in the water, gave tours of the boat, and even had a little sumo competition between the boss and I! Overall I'd call it a success!
Now we're headed to Annapolis and trying I make it there ahead of a strong front that's moving in. Here's hoping!

Happy b-day weekend!
As I sit here nibbling the last of my birthday cupcakes from Crumbs, I'm reflecting on the most perfect weekend a girl could wish for. We spent the weekend anchored in San Domingo Creek on the "back side" of St. Michaels, MD. While the weather always threatened a little, we survived a very humid weekend with hours of swimming. It was wonderful! This wasn't too different from other weekends there--a dinghy ride, a stroll through town, playing at the park, ice cream--yet I had so much fun swimming with the kids that it will surely hold a special place in my memory. And of course there were the cupcakes! I kind of wish every weekend could be at least three days long!

I love long weekends!!!
After a wicked rough week at work we were rewarded with a great day of sailing! And it was mostly downwind which always makes me happy. We joined a growing crowd at San Domingo Creek and set to swimming for a few hours. It was perfect! We jumped off the stern, the port side, and the bow. The kids did great! And the water was just perfect! We got a few small jelly stings, but it was no big deal. Ahhh... As we were cooking dinner, Frank tested out the generator to run our air conditioning and it worked beautifully! A little early sample of my birthday cupcakes and a movie with the kids has wrapped a pretty awesome day. :)
